SOFTLY, FOR I AM WOMAN

I am so in love with the exquisite detail and softness shown in bygone fashion! When we felt heavenly feminine. Never helpless, but always the softer side of men. For that reason, I am beginning my blog with fashion,

In the 1960's Barbra Streisand purred about being softly female in her song "I Am Woman" [You are Man].  This was in stark contrast to Helen Reddy's song a mere decade later "I Am Woman" [Hear Me Roar].  Woman wanted equal pay for equal work.  I championed that, but never intended to give up my girlie side.  Women burned their bras.  They went to Haight-Ashbury and Woodstock; they joined communes.  Some were willing, and in fact, demanding of all women, to step aside from their femininity and unman their men.

"Never!" Said I.  There was a part of me that still wanted my silky satin, soft lace, opulent furs and dazzling bling. I have not changed.  Even with the advent of cheeky-cute gals who donned their fella' t-shirt to bed, or allowed her man only to wear the pants in the family IF they were his pajama bottoms.  But I stayed a bit old school.  I love being a girl!  I love having my hubby open doors for me, or helping me into and out of cars. Or when he helps me on with my coat. Or brings me DQ ice cream cones.  I preen when he says, "I'll get that for you sweetie, it's too heavy and I don't want you to hurt yourself",,  I practically swoon when he tells me he's here to take care of me.

If you are reading this, I suspect you love some of those excellent momentoes of bygone days.. Just maybe you are ready to become a Shabby Chick, too.  Taking time for coffee or tea with friends. Stopping to visit with folks on the street.  Hot, succulent bubble baths.  Oh my, yes. If that's you, then I hope you will come back often to share memories, and chat.

Please remember to follow this blog and share it. And don't forget to share your thoughts, too.

Until next time, my Shabby Chick friends!
